Need a little inspiration....just do what I do....head to an Art Gallery!!!!

 

I had a little bit of a rough week and then ended up heading to the Art Gallery with my sweet son....and it was just what I needed to get my inspiration back in full swing!!! I highly recommend that you make it a regular thing to head to enjoy art!!!

a day without art is like a day without sunshine!!!!!

More inspiring photos from our trip.....

Hello Everyone....and Happy Wednesday....I don't know about you .....but every single time I come home from a vacation it takes me a while to get back into the groove of things....I guess being a beach bum can have that affect on people.....well I am finally coming around and made my first appearance in the Studio ......I am inspired by so many things from our trip so I will be painting today and enjoying some me time with my art supplies....I wanted to share these photos with you all....

We were very lucky to be able to see these Pelicans every day....and feed then fresh fish caught by some local friends....and we enjoyed hours of fun in the ocean daily.....it was so warm and the water was so clear and amazing.....I could swim in there all day long!!!

anyway....back to work!!! back to some creative fun.....and I will meet you back here tomorrow to show you what I have worked on!!!! Thank you for being here!!!

Wonderful long weekend!!! now back to School!....full of inspiration and soon time to work more....

 

Hi Everyone....we are back from our super amazing long weekend....it is always bittersweet for me ....the start of School....I am so excited for our little munchkin....but at the same time I will miss my trusty sidekick!

It will give me a chance to dive into my work full force....and I feel truly grateful for all of the inspiration from the weekend...so much to see and so many beautiful scenes....The tally for the weekend....

• 7 deer
• 1 turtle
• 1 beaver
• 9 ducks
• 1 loon
• dragonflies by the hundred
• and a few more birds....

amazing indeed!!!

The super cool thing was watching 4 special ducks....all summer long....we fed them from when they were babies and watched them grow....this weekend it was harder to differentiate them from their Mommy....amazing and a blessing....I will be back to my 10 Minute Warm ups....but I can't wait to see what you all have to share!!!

10 Minute Warm Up.....Meet my Lady Bug .......

Hi Everyone.....For my 10 Minute Warm Up today I am sharing this piece in colour. My little lady bug and leaves from yesterday....I can't wait to start my gardening and I especially can't wait to plant some yummy vegetables we will enjoy this summer....there is something satisfying about planting your own seeds you harvested from your own plants and using them every year.....like a special cycle....and the best part about growing your own food is knowing what is in it.....totally organic...and delish......I also love lady bugs because they are natural way to control pests in your gardens....so today they have inspired this piece......I also hope that you will all join me in my 10 Minute Warm Ups.....I know you will get addicted like I have......

10 Minute Warm Up Thursday.....My Daffodils in full colour....

Hello Everyone....so thrilled to have you back here....

I am really enjoying my 10 Minute Warm Ups....Today I took yesterdays sketches and used them as my 10 Minute Warm ups by adding some colour to them....I am so addicted to this new fun Daily Challenge...you have to try it out....seriously....take a pencil and paper and just sit down for 10 minutes and draw whatever pops into your head....it is amazing what comes to life on your sketchbook pages....and this is such a great way to get inspired for more art!

I will be here everyday during the week sharing all the things that come to life in my sketchbook...and I hope you will visit and watch as things unfold....but I also hope you will gain some inspiration to try this fun exercise yourself!

Back from NYC with more inspiration....from food to art....very inspired!

Hi Everyone!!!

I am back from another amazing weekend in New York City.....I long to go there every December to get inspired and this weekend....I was like a sponge gaining all sorts of inspiration....the sights and scenes are amazing and the food....what can I say....you know I will be cooking inspired dishes from this trip....and art for the next little while will all be as inspired by the amazing Windows in NYC....I am in love with the amazing windows....I have so much to show you all and I will be doing it daily!!!

I know today is freebie Monday....but I am going to move it to Tuesday so I have time to get something created....I think a long overdue recipe card freebie is in order....something with apples....as inspired by the big apple!!!

My latest series.....the Windows of New York - Part I

What can I say.....the whole reason I head to New York city during the holidays is to get inspired and the windows along the main streets always blow me away....so I am starting a whole new series of pieces as inspired by some of my favorite shop windows......I located this amazing window on 5th Avenue and was blown away by how much was happening in this window....it was very inspiring to create my first piece in this collection.....and I am happy with the way it turned out.....I think these would be so amazing hung next to each other so I am selling these in sets....photo print and art print......

I think the windows in New York this Season all scream one thing....."More is More"

A full Sunday of Antiquing and some new inspiration .....

I love love love spending a full Sunday wandering through antique shops and flea markets...you never ever know what you may find...it is like a diver heading under water and finding large trunks filled with all sorts of things and sometimes you find hidden treasures.....I am a sucker for all things that are hand carved....like this cute hand carved bunny that is a box....it is so adorable and the work that went into it makes me happy....just knowing that it was hand made makes it priceless...to me!

I also collect these silly things all the time....and today I snapped up this cool set that was also hand carved....amazing!

and for some art projects I picked up this dictionary from 1940....it is amazing with the cool illustrations in it...I think it will make some really neat additions to some mixed media work....and how silly that in this day and age ....there will be no printed dictionaries....pretty crazy!!! so this is a gem!!!

oh and I fell in love with this artist from Copenhagen.....Bjorn Wiinblad....these amazing plates really inspired me today....this one above is January.....and I love it!!! I want them all....he created one for each month and I love his illustrations!!!

Bjorn Wiinblad was born in Copenhagen September 20, 1918.  He studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. Rosenthal China of Germany and Nymolle Pottery of Denmark are among the more famous companies that commissioned him to design for them. His works can be found in museums all over Europe. He has also designed scenery for the Royal Danish Ballet and illustrated books and posters. He now resides twelve miles outside of Copenhagen in the town of Hjortekaer.

20 September 1918 - 8 June 2006
He lived a long and wonderful life...and it just goes to show you that you can enjoy a long and happy life if you do what you love....

I am very inspired by his work and by the amazing day I had with my two boys....
