Paint Party Friday.....whooooooooo whoooooooo......

owls poster

As many of you know I love so many things.....and owls are one of the animals that have always touched my heart....once when I was growing up my Dad and I found an injured owl on the side of the road near an escarpment so we took it home and fed it and waited till it's wing got all better....it was amazing...it sat in our garage on my dad's anvil and we bought it all kinds of raw treats....we fed it liver and it was one happy camper.....it turned its head whenever we opened the door....it was an amazing experience...one that I will never forget...We fed it and cared for the little guy till he was ready for flight and then we let him go.....he was amazing...beautiful...and a reminder that we all need to respect wildlife all around us.....

so to the Owls out there....here is a little piece I created.....it is my submission to Paint Party Friday this week.....

Tomorrow this design will be turned into an owl paper doll...so pop back for Sweet Saturdays right here at my blog and share some of your sweet art, sweet photos, anything that you find sweet....

Today we bid Summer Good Bye....and Autumn kissed it good bye too...with some red leaves and hints of colours changing ( I think Autumn wore some red lipstick!!!)

I love this time of year...and can't wait to visit all the Fairs, pick apples, see a big pumpkin patch, and enjoy the colours.....

Happy Creating Everyone!!!!

The owls are awesome :) We have one that lives in the woods near us and we love it when we set out on the deck late at night and we can hear him "who..who.."

That's so cool! Wish I would meet a wild owl up-close someday too...
Allthough, when I was little, we found a small wounded bat and took care of it until it flew of~

Your owl is awesome, love the patterns and colors of his wings and those big eyes!

Love your painting.

And just as much, I love your story of you and your father nursing the injured owl back to health. Through your words, I can why it is a story you will never forget. I'm sure the owl appreciated recovering on you dad's anvil, being fed treats! :) I couldn't agree more that we all need to respect wildlife all around us. :) Thank you for reminding us.

I love Owls tooo!!! These are great!! Just a couple weeks ago there was an Owl with big old white face in my driveway and eating another bird. It looked at me with those beautiful eyes. So much wisdom. The other bird didn't do so well. We won't discuss that.....

What a beautiful story and incredible experience. It reminds me of the book by Jean Craighead George called "there's a tarantula in my purse" - it's a collection of true stories about the various wild animals that have lived in and around her house over the years. My son and I have read this book together countless times, with yearning for similar experiences. Your painted owls are very sweet. I'll need to come back and see the paper doll version!

I love owls too and liked reading the sweet story behind your preference for them! I think one reason I have a soft spot for owls is because my mom's name was Shannon, which I read somewhere means "wise little owl" in Irish.

Your owls are CUTE! Glad to have discovered your blog through PPF!
