Paint Party Friday on a Saturday.....inspired by my Zinnias!!!!

I remember growing up as a child and seeing these blooms in my Mom's garden every year. She used to have a super huge vegetable garden and would put in tons of Zinnias to have cut flowers.....I do this in my Vegetable Garden each and every year now too.....and love seeing these beautiful flowers in all sorts of colours and shapes....they are such happy flowers!!!

I am spending as much time as I can at the cottage and at the Beach...so these will be some inspired fun pieces that I enhanced digitally....I was away all week and forgot my sketchbook so I made a pit stop at my Studio before I head to the Beach!!!

10 Minute Warm Up...after the rain.....and before more rain....

 

Hi Everyone....I spent most of the day with my parents shopping and galavanting ...is that even a word...lol....It was a rainy day and I needed to do something a little different for my 10 Minute Warm Up....so I grabbed my camera once the rain let up and headed outside to see the gardens....and then took 10 Minutes to snap some photos....so I am sharing these with you today!!!! The Summer of Colour....week 3....Zinnias

Hi Everyone...and Happy Monday!!!!

I am back from a wonderful and inspiring weekend up at the cottage and I bring you some zinnias I worked on for the Summer of Colour week 3.....When I was growing up my Parents had a huge vegetable garden and every year my Mom would put in a huge row of Zinnias....one of my favorite summertime flowers....these babies grow in all sorts of colours and I love the way they look and smile at you.....these flowers are something I always added to my very own vegetable garden every year....but this year I didn't plant any....and I am missing them already....so I thought I would draw some to remember them....

Next year I will have to sow some seeds of these pretties....

We headed out this weekend to see some bunnies and flowers and plants and greenhouses and chics!!! so much fun!!!

Love the cute chics.....this one is a reminder that even in a crowd we need to stand out!!!

Our little munchkin and I headed out to meet up with some chics and bunnies.....and then we enjoyed strolls through some amazing greenhouses.....I love seeing all of this beauty....so inspiring and more proof that God was an artist at heart......

Sunday Sketches......thinking of Spring blooms.....

Happy Sunday Everyone.....

Yesterday was the first day we had some snow in a long time....and for some reason I have been thinking about Spring and all of the bulbs I planted that I can't wait to see pop up this Spring....so with that on my mind....I naturally sketched some flora for you today.....it feels good to get back into things this week!!! I'm back from a little escape...with a whole new perspective.....

I spent a few days away with family and it was just what I needed....some time to just un-plug and re-evaluate the important things in life.....so this is just what I did....by the water all weekend....I feel much much better now and am ready to tackle just about anything that life may throw our way.....The only thing I painted when I was at the cottage was my room...and it was a lot of work...three coats of paint...and now a serene and pretty place to just get away.....


Lastnight was the first night I got back to my art....and this is the first thing that popped into my head....a ballet dancing bee....of all things....I guess I merged my love of bees with my love of ballet...and voila....Stacie came to life....she loves to work and dance on the job...hovering from flower to flower with her pirouettes...and pointy toes.....

I just want to thank you all for the wonderful messages of support and kindness...your friendships really touch my heart and I am so grateful to have met you all.....

This is a photo on our lake...where I get away and most times create work for my picture books.....below is a flower I had to share with you....since bees remind me to take care of my plants...and flowers are so beautiful...so I took a shot of these....

and here are a group of dancing bees....they will hang in my Studio and remind me to dance and to enjoy life....we have limited time for everything so I will be trying to cram extra stuff into my life.......

Tuesday Design warm up......Daisies anyone?

Hi Everyone....today I took some time this morning to do a quick little fun warm up....using my process....so I used a few simple pieces and came up with these daisies....I love daisies...they have a fun look and always make people smile...plus it always reminds me of the flowers I used to pick for my Mom....I think it is important to just do something fun before you start any work.....

so today I bring you all a special little virtual bouquet of daisies....wishing you all a wonderful day filled with inspiration....now off to the Studio for some work!!!

Happy Cinco de Mayo!!!!

What a day to be on my fast....I really didn't work things out...today is Cinco de Mayo and I will be making all kinds of yummy treats for my boys...but for me it is day three of my juice fast....ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am feeling really good today and feel like the detox is working perfectly.....but Guacamole and yummy treats are my favorite....so in lieu of eating I am going to make a feast and eat it virtually...

I started my day with passion fruit and a yummy concoction from my juicer....If you know me you know that I am addicted to passion fruit....I even keep it on my night table because I love the scent of it....I think God would eat this every morning too....it is heaven!!!!

There are so many of my favorite things I could make today...like my Mexican meat biscuits.....guacamole for sure and even some tacos for lunch and Mexican Pizza....

My recipe for Guacamole can be found here.....It is so good ....Sometimes I just add it to a big pile of kidney beans for an instant healthy salad that doesn't taste like it's diet food...yummy!!!!

They say if you can't eat, all you have to do is pretend you ate something and you will feel like you did....I don't know about you....but this is really crazy....lol....but I was so happy that yesterday on day 2 of my detox I met up with my friends and there were so many treats!!! chocolate covered stuff....bars....coffee....all the things I love and all I drank was water....I am so proud of myself....

Tomorrow I can introduce more into my diet....this is my last day of detox!!! but I have learned that the quality of what you put in makes a huge difference in how you feel.....I also have a Evening in Paris Bridal Shower to attend and you know there will be plenty of goodies there too!!!
