Memories....they can be so wonderful!
I have so many wonderful memories growing up....it would be hard to imagine how long it would take for me to illustrate all of them...
One of my fond memories growing up was watching my Dad take care of his bee hives...he was a bee keeper and I have so many fun stories about him and his bees....his bee stings...and mostly the best tasting honey ever....
This week as the theme on Mixed Media Monday is "memories" I immediately thought about creating something to commemorate that wonderful time watching my Dad tend to his bees....he cherished these little creatures and helped them grow their hives...it was wonderful and I am ever so grateful to have experienced this...I have a new found respect for bees and always will....I think I should start learning more about bee keeping and who knows maybe one day I can add this to my list of things to do....
I also teach Cole each day about these busy workers that make the world a better place...including all the bee keepers!!!
so here's to all the Bee Keepers!!!

Your bees are charming, Diana! I enjoyed hearing about your Dad's hobby as well. Thanks for sharing!
Oh Diana..this is one of my favorites of yours yet! I love the colors and your story. Such a neat legacy to keep going! I really am enjoying hearing about all our memories!
Your art piece is wonderful. Bees??? Heavens! Your dad was very brave to do that!
Hi Diana,
Lovely post and it brings back happy memories for me. My Grandfather and Uncles on my Mother and Fathers side, kept bees. I used to love watching them from a distance, doing the same as your Dad is doing.
Love Artwork.
Have a happy week
Hugs
Carolyn
This is gorgeous Diana - I love foxgloves and am very fond of bees too!
I know a young lady who is taking over from her grandad - he has over 100 hives here in Devon and is busy acting as a bee conservationist. He's just amazing... =)
Sorry Diana - that was me! Forgot to put my name!!

Diana, your artwork is beautiful as always! I think making your own honey is the most exiting experiences. you are so lucky!!
I have property on a greek island and someday I intend to move there. One of the first things on my list is to have bee hives!
xoxo
Fantastic painting. I love honey :)But I'm a bit afraid about bees ;)
Hi Friend!
I love the featured Paris piece above - you are such a talent! And I love this piece too - the sweet little bee faces and beautiful flowers - it is really FAB. And I enjoyed the pictures of your Dad too - it must have been such a cool way to grow up,
Kristin xo
Diana, your painting is beautiful. I love little Cole's face peeking out! The bee population has diminished in our area to the point I think there is some concern about pollination difficulties. I respect bees and try to do it from a distance!!!
Oh gosh ... this is just the cutest! Love there little faces!
Inka :)
So now we know why bees feature in your art! Great story and pic Diana. I know a tubby bear who is rather fond of honey too!
Really really enjoyed your work and your blog.
You have made these bees look so interesting and fabulous. Shows a lot of passion.
childhood memories are the strings to our heart..gosh I miss being a kid and it sounds like you have a most awesome loving dad!!! I love that you made this in honor of him!
What a gorgeous illustration, Diana, and what happy memories :-) Diane
