Theme Thursday - Busy

Hi Everyone....I thought I would show you the latest painting in the painting a day project....She was inspired by my old raggedy Anne doll that I still have in my studio....her clothing is a busy pattern and I thought she fit this week's theme on Theme Thursday...
I have kept my doll for many years now and it makes me smile to think back to my days as a wee little girl....I also still love dolls....and love barbies too....I guess we never really get old....we are all just kids at heart...and I want to stay that way!!
I also thought you would get a kick out of Cole's latest comments....whenever he sees a Barbie commercial he always stops what he is doing and says "those are for you Mommy... you like those....when I am bigger I will buy you one of those barbies"
I smile and laugh and my heart is full of his cuteness!!! I showed him my little collection one day and he always thinks of me when he sees a barbie...how cute is that....
Happy Thursday!!!
Hugs

Happy St. Patrick's Day! My new Muse and some great books I just received....

I have 9 paintings on the go right now and took some time out yesterday and this morning to work on a fun little project....I created my second "muse" ....I made my first Rag Doll...and it was way too much fun...I call her "Retro Raggedy Anne" and she is in my studio now with my first Raggedy Anne Doll that I received when I was five..(many moons ago) I kept her all these years and now she finally has a big sister....I handpainted all the details and will definately be making more cute dolls....
if you click on the photo you can see the Illustration inspired by my first raggedy anne doll....

I also received 2 books in the mail...what fun...the Children's Writer's & Illustrator's Market...a must read for any one in the Children's Market.....

and of course something to do with cupcakes...this book is so cute...and the number of savory and sweet cupcakes blows my mind....There is a recipe for tomatoe basil cakes....with a savory frosting and a cherry on top...so cute and I love basil and tomatoes......

Hope you have a great start to the week....

Cheers,

Diana

Illustration Friday Submission - Stitch - my hand stitched doll

When I was about 5 years old...I got a little raggedy anne doll....she is about 4-5 inches tall and I took her everywhere I went for years....She was hand stitched ....so I thought I would make a special illustration as a tribute to her....perfect for this week's theme ....
To this day, I still have this doll and it sits on my desk in my studio...bringing me a smile and warmth from the past and inspiration for the future...
silly I know...but funny how something from our childhood can do all that...
Have a wonderful day!
Cheers,
Diana
