Theme Thursday - Vintage Valentine

Hi Everyone....


I needed a little break from all the book illustrating today so I took 5 minutes to come up with a design for Theme Thursday.....this is my first time at Theme Thursday....and the theme is "Vintage Valentine"

I did some freehand heart cutouts and embossed them with a gift from my husband...my new cuttlebug....I then added a vintage image from

The Vintage Moth ( free images daily for mixed media artists)

Added all the pieces to my card....then added my favorite sparkles with stickles.....
and voila....a vintage valentine in no time....

Arty Girlz Challenge Blog - Anything but a card....how about a doll!

Hi Everyone....

I am having a blast with my new movable dolls....This is the second in a series I started at the end of 2008....I am submitting her to the Arty Girlz Challenge this week....the theme is "anything but a card"

Her name is "Celeste" which means Heavenly.....I placed her in a shadow box frame in my studio.....

Finally back!!! Happy 2009!!! Illustration Friday - "Resolve"

Happy 2009!!!

I started the year off with something I have rarely done in a while...actually take vacation away from everything....

It was wonderful....

I just love a whole new year...it always seems so inspiring and fresh...and makes me think that anything is possible...

I created this piece as my submission to Illustration Friday's prompt..."Resolve"

It has many of the things I will be focusing on this year....

1. Spend more time with family friends
2. Illustrate more children's books
3. eat healthier
4. fit into my favorite dress
5. paint more
6. garden more
7. bake more
8. enjoy cupcakes more
9. create more
10. and always stop and smell the roses...meaning I will keep my eyes wide open and never let the wonder around me slip away....
