Hi Everyone....what a fun theme over at IF this week....As soon as I saw the word "Muddy" I immediately thought about my childhood and the cool mud pies and cakes I used to make in our backyard....I used to collect berries and leaves and all sorts of things to decorate my pies and cakes with and then I would let them dry a bit before I cut and served them...what a wonderful childhood memory.....I smiled just remembering those amazing days.....This is the "Mud Pie Baker" she can create whatever your heart desires......I thought I would add the final piece and the ink piece....
Have a wonderful Tuesday!!!
hugs
Diana

OMG! OMG! Okay! So you just have the high class mud pie dinner. I had the working class mud suppers. HAHAHAHAHA! This is so cute. Isn't it amazing that children all ove the world play the same games with a slight cultural variation? You had special dishes. I used the bottle caps as miniature pie pans. We also used cans to creat tall mud wedding cakes. Our island had several types of soil including clay so we were able to sculpts clay mud cakes! we also used the hibiscus leaves for our vegetable soup because it had a jelly type consistency when mixed with water.
Do you want to come over and play mud pies with me?
Diana, I just thought tonight that the reason why I keep doing these paintings and drawings is to continue reliving my childhood for it was the happiest of childhoods. Bella and I were talking about people who inspire us and I told her that when I draw children, I draw inspiration from my own memories and I feel like a child again.
Have a wonderful night sweetheart.
OMG!!! you are so right!!! I am blown away....it is so true that we create as inspiration from our childhood memories...and so neat that we all made mud pies...and cakes....but I never made a super tall Wedding cake...maybe this summer I will try it!!! you are so wonderful and I am so thrilled to know you....I feel like we are connected ...on some strange wavelength....and I love that you get me and I get you....
Wonderful to know you my sweet friend!!! I am off to dream of more of my childhood memories...I just hope that our children will have the same thoughts when they grow up!!!

Oh my goodness my favorite MUD PIE!!!!!! he he he he he!!! I just love it! It's fabulously fashionable indeed Diana he he he!! Your style is flawless. Great work once again my friend.
OMG.... i laughed so much when I read your post and then continued laughing when Ces left her comment. I also made those pies but mine where more sandy. I never used enough water...lol! That's carried on into my adult life because I love to cook but not bake. I guess I was a loser at mud pie making....lol
If Ces is going for pie making.... so am I. I'll bring the wine...lol!
Loved this illustration, girlfriend!!

This brings back a LOT of memories! When we were kids, we used to sneak inside my grandmother's kitchen to steal the "big spoon" out of her kitchen drawer to mix our "batter"! The trick was NOT to get caught!!! LOL! GREAT piece, Diana! Hugs, Terri xoxo
this is terrific and beautifully colored. I love the two electric green trees. great composition, too.
I, however, am allergic to mud pies and must substitute lemon meringue instead.
Fantastic! I'm so happy you remembered mud pies for this prompt! I so loved making mud pies. Precious illo for precious memories :)
Oh mud pies! I remember making these with my friends when we were little girls. Funny the simple pleasures we could enjoy when we were little kids, especially covered in MUD!
What a fun piece and composition, thanks for sharing.
This is so adorable! Mud pies are a great choice and one that had not even dawned on me.
Love it! So fun!! Your mud pies look much better than the ones that I made when I was little! LOL. Great illustration, Diana!!
This is so sweet Diana and a great piece for this weeks theme, i think you and I must have been on the same wave length heheh
Hi Diana,
Lovely sweet post and making mud pies was a childhood pastime we used to do.
Isn't it great to remember the happy time we had as kids.
I love your drawing.

You were perfecting your baking and decorating skills even as a child! I bet you had the prettiest mud bakery in the neighborhood, too. Beautiful, happy illustration! I love the addition of shadows in the back.
And OH! Those sledding pictures are fabulous! Looks like fun. COLD, but fun!

What a clever take on the mudpie making! Simply lovely!
Ah, you and Ces and your mud pies! Absolutely love the colors and the sweetness of this piece. When we first moved in our new home 21 years ago,the back yard of course was bare. One day SPC Ryan who was 2 at the time made a HUGE mess in the mud...so I called my best friend wa wa wa about the mess and she said, Oh I did some of my best baking with mud pies. Lesson learned: I HAD to let him play in the mud! **kisskiss** Deb
ooooo, mud pies!!! How fun and yes, definitely a memory maker. I think every little girl makes mud pie's...Your pup is so cute just sitting by your side playing with you in your imaginary world! Love it Diana
Hihihi!!! Looks so cool and funny!
Bravo-bravisimo!!! :o)
