Hi Everyone....
It is Halloween Eve today and I had to share some shots of my
Día de los Muertos inspired costume that I wore to a costume party on the weekend....I haven't dressed up for a Costume party in ages and this was so much fun....I felt like a kid again....It was an adult costume party that was a blast and a half....we stayed out till after 3:00 a.m......and laughed and played some fun games too....
I made a special head piece for my costume and our munchkin was thrilled to model it for me....he always loves when I create.....I think it turned out amazing.....
I also have to tell you all that I won best costume!!! how super cool is that....everyone loved my make up and my spooky attire.....it was a shock to be the winner....but super exciting!!!
a little about Day of the Dead....from Wikipedia....
Day of the Dead (
Spanish:
Día de los Muertos) is a
Mexican
holiday celebrated throughout Mexico and around the world in other
cultures. The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to
pray for and remember friends and family members who have died. It is
particularly celebrated in Mexico, where it is a national holiday, and
all banks are closed. The celebration takes place on November 1, in
connection with the
Catholic holidays of
All Saints' Day and
All Souls' Day (November 2). Traditions connected with the holiday include building private altars honoring the deceased using
sugar skulls,
marigolds,
and the favorite foods and beverages of the departed and visiting
graves with these as gifts. They also leave possessions of the deceased.
Hope you all got through this rough storm called Sandy....and our prayers go out to all those impacted by this horrible storm....
Happy Halloween Eve and Happy Creating Everyone....
