more more more....October - the month for some fun Hallowe'en Art....

Hi Everyone....

Remember when we were all younger and getting our Hallowe'en costumes picked out and made was one of the funnest projects!!!

I never was a Mummy...but sometimes I thought about it....something fun about being hidden away ....

I found this cool web site called....How Stuff Works....and located some info on Mummies....

here is an excerpt
Along with Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster and the Wolfman, the mummy is one of the great figures of the classic horror-movie genre. And it's easy to see why: In a sense, mummies are real-life, tangible ghosts. They are bodies that stick around long after death.

and to read about Modern Mummies you can click here....and you can even see a movie clip with some Modern Day Mummies...this also lead to the process called plastination....that was created by a bunch of scientists and lead to the modern day shows referred to as "Body Worlds" pretty scary.....and neat at the same time.....

See you tomorrow!!!!

Hugs
Diana

Another fun illo! My favorite childhood Mummy story was in first grade. A little boy came to school with gauze to be turned into a mummy for his costume. The teachers all helped roll him up and then he had a hard time moving around and sitting! I don't remember too much from my early childhood but that Halloween party left a lasting impression. Oh and I was Raggedy Ann that year, my mom made the costume. =)

I've been to the Body Worlds exhibit when it was in Cleveland. My husband and I thought it was interesting, but we got sort of sick by the time we were done. The fetuses were really sad...and it is weird to think those were living, breathing people just like us...on the other hand, they also preserved a Camel...which was really cool.

I was never a mummy either but like you loved the idea of being completely incognito!! This is a wonderful piece. There is such a sense of excitement to it...like the child behind all that swathing can't wait to get trick or treating.

Trick or Treat! Halloween parades at school was an exciting event for my daughters. One of my daughters was excited about being a fairy princess for the parade. While getting her costume ready the morning of the parade, her fairy wing broke. She was extremely sad. ;-( Quick thinking, some make up (she liked this), and a homemade price tag, we quickly changed her from fairy princess to a "porcelain doll," with a price tag of $100.00. She won first prize! Since then, she believed that she could win anything. Now I enjoy the season with my grandchildren and hopefully teach them that they are winners too. Thanks for the memories.

Boy, you have been busy since my last visit. All those sweets are making me drool.

Great mummy! Don't have a mummy memory, but I do have fond memories of walking my grandmother's neighborhood on Halloween. Sad that these times aren't as safe.

I do remember my Mom saying I could not have anymore candy one day after Halloween, so I secretly took some in my room, ate it, and then quickly brushed my teeth! :P

Love this !!! My little boy is a real fan of mummies...and all things Egyptian really. He has had this passion since he was 4 years old...he was King Tut that Halloween...I remember when we were trick or treating and someone said, "Look, it's King Tut." And he answered, "No, it's just a costume." I'll never forget that !!

BTW...there are a couple of awards at my blog for you, sweetie !!
