The girls head out for our last dinner of 2007!

Tonight a bunch of my wonderful friends and I headed out for our last Dinner of 2007. We headed to a place called


Sotiris in Burlington. It is a family-owned and operated restaurant that specializes in authentic Greek cuisine. The Saganaki OPA! was amazing ...it is Flaming Kefalotyri cheese and what could be a better way to start a meal...flaming yummy cheese...

The atmosphere is wonderful and you definately feel like you've wandered into a Greek Restaurant. The owner, Mata greeted us and the service was perfect to say the least. Our food was amazingly tasty and the quantity was abundant. We enjoyed our night out and even did a greek coffee reading for our friend Marina... interesting and fun!!!

Another wonderful time!

it only seemed natural to have a bird in a hot air balloon taking a "free ride"...

My current Project...well a sneak peek anyway...

I was delighted to hear from a Publisher in BC about illustrating a short story ....the story is a wicked, little anti-fairy tale that starts off sweet and happy, but ends with a delightfully-evil twist...the story really grew on me after a while...I read and re-read it over and over to get a feel for the characters....



I added an extra small image of my first illustration ok 2 one of the woman in the story too( a sneak Peek) ....more to come once it's published!

Some more of my custom work...Christmas Gifts for Family...

I had such a wonderful Holiday and wanted to share some of my custom artwork with all of you.... I made some custom canvas' as personal gifts.....It was so nice to see everyone's reaction to their new artwork...they loved it!!!

I am having a great time with all my commissions too....every project comes with it's own pleasure and I truly love making these paintings....

I am currently illustrating a short story for a Children's Lit Magazine....I have a deadline for the end of December...so I will be busy ....

Merry Christmas Everyone! My Yummy Sketch for today is for all of you during this magical time of year...

Every year we have special nights when we bake yummy treats...we have so much fun as we listen to Christmas music and bake the night away...

I had a request for Christmas Cookies a while back and am finally featuring my Yummy Sketch of the Day - Christmas Cookies...

To me making them ...is our tradition...oh and eating them on Christmas day is also our tradition...

Early Gift ....One of my custom mixed media paintings for our wonderful Niece....

Tonight we had a special celebration at our home with my brother, my sister-in-law to be, our niece, our parents and some friends...

We won't be able to see our niece on Christmas this year so tonight was all about her...one of her gifts was this custom mixed media canvas that I made....she LOVED it!!!!!!

She is in love with all things mermaid...

Seeing her reaction to this gift of all the other gifts made my day and makes me realize why I love creating art everyday...

So much going on these days....I love this time of year!!!

I have been busy with my last Christmas custom work...These are adorable. I can't wait to post some samples that I did for my family....On top of that we have been finishing our shopping and baking all these yummy delights...I will post some photos of the baking too...

I am happy to report that all my shopping is done...and wrapped under the tree waiting to be enjoyed....

Another Original Santa Gourd heads to a new home...

I make these one of a kind painted gourds....these are professionally dried and then I paint original artwork on them. For the Holiday Season I make special Santas...

Christmas Dinner with Friends tonight...what a great time!!!

Tonight eight of us headed out to a wonderful restaurant for a night of great food and great laughs....Brad and I , Mary and Dan, Marina and Rob, and Lacy and Gary headed out....we had such a great time and I can't remember a time when I actually lost my voice from laughing so hard....we told stories of the good old days....but my husband and his friends have the funniest stories ever....at one point we thought Lacy might go into labour....but thankfully she did not....lol

More great times to come....

one of my Christmas Commissions heading home...

I had so much fun with this custom mixed media work. It was picked up on the weekend and I was so pleased with the way it turned out. I wanted to leave a sneak peak on here but had to hide the faces of the people it will be going to on Christmas day...just in case!

Another Write up!

Wow...yesterday I got a call from The Hamilton Spectator....They asked about my art and the work that I do and then before I knew it the wonderful writer set up a photo shoot and everything...all in one day!

The Photographer came last night with all these lights and gadgets...it was pretty cool!

Got my copy of the Cookbook I illustrated for Charity!

I really loved doing this project....I did the book cover and the sections inside....it was fun to create these characters and I am happy that the money from corporate sales of this book goes to Charity...

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas....

Friday night we started to get into the Holiday spirit...the three of us decorated our mantle and Christmas tree....our son hung some ornaments and he did a great job!

We love the Holidays! Tonight we head to a dinner party at Dan's place....all of our friends will be there....looking forward to all the great food and great laughs....

Yummy Sketch of the Day Part 3 - Carmen's Request for Chicago Style Pizza...and IF theme - "Excess"

I am adding this as my post this week for IF's theme "Excess" because if this pizza is anything it is Excessive!...the cheese alone!!!

I remember a great trip to Chicago...the Pizza was amazing to say the least....we searched locally and found a place called "Chicago Style Pizza" and we were very pleased to say the food was amazing! I even congratulated the chef that night and wrote my special review on the best pizza ever....Here is my take on that pizza but the only difference here is that this one is ZERO calories so you can enjoy a slice or two if you're really hungry...

Illustration Friday - Memories of the ZOO!

This week's theme reminded me of one of my favorite zoos....the Elmvale Zoo...It is a place we visit often when up at the cottage in Wasaga Beach. This year was the first year we took our son Cole...he loved it and was in awe at the giraffes...and all the other wonderful animals....I remember when my husband and I started going there ....when we dated...I threw a slice of banana at this monkey and accidentally squared it in the you know whats...(nuts anyone) hehehe ....I laughed so hard when this happened because the monkey was holding his privates and once he heard me laugh he mimicked my crazy laugh....Brad and I laughed and laughed ....good memories!

I did two takes on the theme this week....one take on my fond memories and a cute funny take on animals at the HUMAN zoo...lol....and I just had to add some photos of our son on his first trip to the Elmvale zoo...one with him checking out the giraffe or was the girrafe checking him out...and another with him and the pink flamingos...
