Mixed Media Monday - "I am woman" ...and I need to stand out!

Hi Everyone...We had a busy few days ...helping some friends move into their new home...running around...it seems like the weekend just flew by!!! I looked at the prompt on MMM this week...and had no idea what to create...so I just sat down with pen and ink...and then came up with this piece....The meaning behind it...even though society has so many pressures for women to fit in and be like other women....I always think that it is important to stand out and be who you are...(stay true to yourself) ....(be a leader)....so the symbolism behind this piece is just that....we can strive to fit in...but we should never lose sight of who we are...and I often find that when you act like your true self you always stand out in a crowd!!!

Have a wonderful Monday!!!

Hugs
Diana

  3. Thankyou for your wise thoughts on the place of women today. Your picture is, as always, stunning. Having reached (ahem) senior years, I think it is the best time because we fall back into anonymity but we also develop a don't care attitude which allows us to do and say what we like without embarrassment. I have certainly learned to roar (in the nicest possible way of course) when I think I am on the wrong end of something.

  4. Thank you Marie!!! I love that you say and do what you want...I wish people could learn to do that at an earlier stage in their lives......

I also think it's not so much a don't care atitude...but a "I'm happy with me and life" atitude...it makes you focus on the things that make you happy versus the things you think others think would make you happy!!!

Thank you for popping by !!! always love to hear from you!!!

  8. Lots to think about in your lovely art piece. Unfortunately, we're usually "older" when we realize we aren't defined by what others think of us, but by what we think of ourselves.

  9. I wished I had a figure like that when I was younger but now at my advanced age it's nice not to care so much! Fantastic art as always Diana.
